In June 2020, the SJRWMD began a pilot project in DeBary Bayou, which involves the mechanical removal of nuisance and exotic vegetation. The intent of the project is to improve the health of the bayou and associated wetlands through nutrient removal and increased water exchange between the marsh and bayou. The bayou flows from Gemini Springs and Mullet Lake to Lake Monroe. The outcome expands the SJRWMD's vegetation management tools and reduces use of aquatic herbicides.
Our featured speakers are Brian Emanual, SJRWMD Land Resources Chief and Saundra Gray, founding member of the Gemini Springs Alliance and former SJRWMD Board Member. A walking tour will follow the presentation. Please dress accordingly.
Cost is:
$25 for FPZA Members
$30 for non-members
Lunch is included.
AICP credits pending.
